Be luxurious.

I was in New York this last weekend to meet with seven women I mastermind with…

I love this group.

We have everything from an ex-concert pianist all the way to a comedian who is featured on CNN often to talk around ~ hold it ~ money (I love this woman’s surprise factor!). We are all so different and yet have so much to bring to the group.

Angela Kim, ex-concert pianist turned uber successful owner of www.savorthesuccess.com

The theme of “owning it” came up a lot this weekend as did stepping into that next version of ourselves…the video I recorded (that I can not share with you because the sound didn’t work) was all about creating the brand you know yourself to be which I discuss often. Essentially what this means is keeping an eye on creating a brand for where you WANT to be not for where you are.

I think it’s important. And this has nothing to do with “appearances” or impressions. This has all to do with you and with the collective “us” not being cheap with ourselves. Everything you think about everyday, everything you know yourself to be and all the ways you know you can help this planet needs to be showcased in your business and in your brand. Don’t leave anything out.

You’re a powerhouse and your juice/your fuel? Your authenticity. Brand THAT and brand it with an eye toward your vision and future.

For starters:

1. Get clear on your vision. What is it? In two years and five years what do you want to be doing with your life (and business)?

2. Look at your website (your prime branding opportunity or vehicle)…is it for the woman you want to be or the woman you are right now? I’m not saying we need to spend gobs of money on a new one but many times we let things sit that we are not completely proud of.

3. Are your rates reflective of all that you bring to the party? (and yes you are worth it)

4. Are your partnerships reflective of your expertise and passion? (act like the woman that has those partnerships)

5. Lastly, where could you celebrate and savor the success more like Angela pouring us all wine above?

Being luxurious with ourselves is about seeing ourselves for all we are worth today and through all our tomorrows.

Enjoy your business, enjoy your life.

“Nothing has a separate self,” said the 7 year old.

My son (7) and I discussed nature vs. nurture last week as we walked through a rose garden.

After describing what each was and how people thought of each, I asked him which he thought was more true.

His response: “Well the basic Buddhism comic book says that nothing has a separate self and that everything is interconnected.”

Me: “So do you think it’s more nature or nurture that is more true?”

Him: “Well, it’s nurture, of course.”

How could you nurture others in your life and business more to grow and GO to that next level? How could you stop solo-preneuring and start soaring?

There is such empowerment through partnership and most definitely through recognizing the truth no matter what stage or age…we really are more powerful together than apart 😉

The “deal” with coaches.

“I’ve worked with a coach (or coaches) before and am weary/didn’t get results/never got time with her.”

It seems everywhere I go, I can’t seem to get away from this conversation. Nine out of 10 clients have been sharing this with me as have 8 out of 10 ladies I meet at events…seems “everyone” is sharing a very similar story. I had a client the other day even tell me she doesn’t want to use the word “coach” in her title. Maybe “mentor” was best…

Here are some tips for creating what you truly want to be a part of; for aligning yourself with those that will support you the way you want to feel supported. Some of these may seem obvious but many times we forget to do our due diligence.

Ask them (poll yourself first):

1. What deliverables will you give me and in what time frame?

2. Spend some time reviewing testimonials on their site. Check out the work/feel of their past clients by visiting their sites. Are they similar to your work? Different?

3. Make sure the program or service you are looking at doesn’t just match your budget but (most importantly) matches the one-on-one service (or group) support you need. We can get way too focused on the money piece and make a decision based on that versus the container of support we really need. Buying into the wrong container will make us feel like we got the short end of the stick every time.

4. Ask them how they will support you in between sessions? Is there email access, and if so, how much…is there a limit?

5. And, all in all, make sure to feel out if they really “get you”. I remember when a client said this to me a few weeks ago ~ that I “got her” and that for her this was a key piece.  That’s what it’s about, really. If and when a coach (or anyone supporting you) truly “gets you”, your product, your industry and values service and communication the way you do ~ you’re most of the way there.

And just remember, there’s a way to get there without rushing. There is no reason to feel pressured or like time is going to run out, especially for one-on-one work. Take the time you need (and give an answer when you promised you would). And, most importantly, do an internal audit first so that you know exactly what you need and who it is that you’re really looking for.

Much love…

Permission, Practice and Ability: the tantalizing trilogy.

The only thing that has worked for me is permission, practice and ability.

As with most of my beliefs around business and brand success…the best practices in life also help business.

When we give ourselves the permission to be happy, to be fully-expressed and to play as big of a game as we want and then move to practice those things every day, we finally gain the ability to be the brand of woman we’ve known ourselves to be. We stretch our happiness and grow the exact businesses we’ve been searching so hard outside of ourselves for.

In what ways could you walk down this path more; grow and gain the ability to create your most authentic voice…one that attracts more ideal clients and makes you happiest?

Belief is part of it, doing is the other. Welcome your authentic voice and thriving business.

For those wanting to grow theirs:

A client working with me in an intensive from Australia recently asked if I only worked with clients in intensives (4 or 8 hours) or if I had longer-standing programs. I’m all about clarity so I felt the need to shine a light on this. I work with clients both privately and in group programs (my branding course coming up October 11 can be found here: www.popsandprofits.com):

• private intensives (4 or 8 hours), LIVE or over skype.

• my traditional two-month brand coaching private program

• tagline creation (two week support)

• and in a six-month and 12 month capacity…

If you were curious just as my client was last week, I trust this helps. And if you want to hear more about how these “containers” or my branding/coaching work could support you and your beloved business, I’d love to chat. Feel free to drop me a line (or four) and we can set up a time to talk live.

I’m always more than happy to hear where you’re at and give you my honest assessment (and, no, many times it doesn’t involve fixing what’s not broken). It’s amazing what clarity on our message, brand personality and simple tweaks to existing touch points will do! That’s part of the joy in this work. It’s not as hard as we make it all out to be…

Enjoy your business, enjoy your life.
