What If He Moves…!?

What If He Moves…!?

What if….?

This is us on a trip from our place in Amsterdam to Paris in 2005. Nolan had been born in the ‘Dam five months prior (that’s a story!).

About nine years later, after living in both Portland and Guadalajara, we found ourselves sitting on our now Los Angeles couch watching a show when I told Josh to quickly pause it. Nolan was upstairs sleeping and was nine years old.

Me: What if….when Nolan’s older, he goes to live in France [far away from us] or something!?!?!

Josh: [pause] Well, that IS what we’re teaching him.

Josh was right. (And — I was right).

Recently, his passport with visa arrived, and he is officially a resident of France!!!!!

What do you have a deep intuition about or what have you dreamed about that you want to put into action?

Don’t Fake

Don’t Fake

Life is good, not because tough stuff doesn’t happen, but because we all know it does, but it’s good because there’s always a perspective, wisdom and purpose as a growing seed within it. #painandjoycoexist

“Most of the places I still frequent, with Josh and Nolan, or with friends, are places I used to go with them (such awesome, tender memories).

I really feel their absence here. So, as I’m having fun, I take time to allow the sadness and longing to be felt. Water helps, not pretending helps and deeper conversations allow the more difficult feelings to have a place in my life, too. We must. Don’t stuff it down.

You don’t just wake up one day healed from grief, you create a meaningful, honest life around the longing. Because one of the only real things is that pain and joy can and do co-exist. We can let even more joy in when we don’t fake what may still hurt.”

A & B Sides! (Allow Both In)

We all have A and B sides (our “B” side shown above).

We all have good times, but we also have the challenging times…we have the days the sun sits at our backs and days the glare limits all visioning (don’t ever think you’re alone in any feeling, suffering or dark night of the soul, because although not everyone is comfortable sharing about their challenges, it doesn’t mean they don’t have them, the human condition is both, no matter what kind of house you have, relationship you’re in or if you consider yourself a happy person or not…).

We each host the range of all of life. That’s life’s entire point.
To live the full range.

Are you living yours?

Are you allowing yourself to feel versus push down or swallow the discomfort pretending it’s not important to acknowledge?

Allow it, as much as you allow joy.

Because it’s the challenging times that can open us up to eventually also feel or create more joy!

Every single emotion is possible within love, and when we allow our “B” sides, we are very much loving ourselves and accepting all of our humanity.

Resiliency comes from love, hope comes from love, health comes from love, creative ideas come from love and on it goes like that…

Allow all in and allow yourself into your life!

A and B sides! Both welcome!

Mother Of Reinvention

When they’re one and learning to walk, without any words, they are saying to us, hey, Mama, what do *you* want to learn, too? What do you, in your own life, want to passionately take from a walk to a run?

When they’re 10 and they do their first big thing inside whatever activity, trip or friendship, by [their] example, they teach us to do ~ and keep doing ~ activities that empower us, too.

When they’re 18 and we’re helping them pack bags for college, they’re reminding us, yet again (maybe using many more words now) — so, what are you, sweet woman of my life, who has loved me so right, going to [continue] to get into now? What more or other [life] lessons will you pursue? What new curiosities or paths will you follow with verve? How will you continue to nurture your creative being so right?

All the while, at one, 10 or 18, all signs and figures of them are also wanting to say: …and aren’t you excited!?! Be/stay excited. about. *your*. life.

Doing this keeps you young, Mama! Keep living, learning, exploring and traveling to new heights.

The way for us *both* is up.

Growing…
