Diary 8, People Pleasing (Landed in the US of A and here’s what I have to say!)

Success and legacy (the feelings of) comes from keeping our word, to ourselves.

It’s a theme today in the live streams and blog I’ve created today, so it obviously needs to be shared here, too.

We say we want something — we commit to an idea or a path and then just as soon as we have, someone asks something of us and poof, just like that, we’ve sold out and made someone else’s ask, want, favor or task more important than the commitment we’ve made to stay on course for ourselves and the legacy we want to leave behind.

Borrow the commitment you feel in that area in your life where things are healthy, consistent and growing — pour it into those other areas where your consistency to commit, day in and day out, is struggling.

The following is a note my longtime client, Tanya B. posted yesterday inside one of my private Facebook groups and is a GENIUS example of what happens when we follow-through on the commitments we’ve made to ourselves to build something meaningful in our lives and impact as many people as we can with that work.

Others are important and yes, they need you. But you need you. In fact, you showing up for yourself is how you find the ecstatic energy and space necessary to give to everyone around you.

In simpler words, people pleasing doesn’t grow movements. Your commitment to that movement does…

“Today I got the opportunity to be a guest on a TV show. Drawing on the strength of my new purpose statement, I said a big YES! I had a clearly defined message that needed to come forth. Once I started speaking about health and wellness and women’s health, everything fell away. I stepped into my Wellness Warrior shoes and put on my WW cape and gave. I shared from my heart and it felt so good. Thank you, Michelle, for helping me get back in touch with my message. Can’t wait to see what magic lies ahead.”

Your message, messaging and brand will always be important, but you have nothing without a staunch commitment to self!

Diary #7, Wine with Purpose in Israel

Saturday, we visited a winery an hour-and-a-half from Tel Aviv.

We chose it of all the wineries researched for a couple of reasons. Tulip (ode to Nolan’s birthplace, Holland) was founded 14 years ago with the intention of creating something with social value…

They did that by bringing in people with special needs to work all aspects of the winery. Today there are 240 who live on campus and as Elan put it, “the winery would collapse without them.” They’re an integral part of everything we experienced yesterday.

The winery is also part of an area/town whose name means village of hope.

These Ghilotti and Mandel eyes, all six of them, see the world as one big village of it, of hope. That’s what has come from this trip even more…hope.

Speaking of — oh, Israel. Every part of you we’ve experienced and *will* still experience is loving, magical and open-hearted.

Enjoy your business, enjoy your life!

Diary #6, Processing Jerusalem (A Shared Morality & Doing What Feels Good)

I will need time to process Jerusalem. But I will say that walking and talking about the Jewish, Christian and Muslim history here with our guide, Gabo, was a highlight of our time away and of life.

He was another one of our favorite people here.

As we walked, we heard more languages being spoken than we’ve heard anywhere else in the world.

Nolan lit a candle for Gigi at Mary’s resting place and wrote and placed a special message for what he wanted for himself and the world at the wailing wall, Josh and I did the same…

I spent the most time here, with those candles, as well as at the wall, watching and reflecting and noticing and appreciating — there was an energy and power you couldn’t mistake.

A shared morality…. we have that and *can* have that — inside each of us there is the knowledge and a deep respect of all that brings.

In other news, we hit the Guns N’ Roses concert in Tel Aviv after such a moving day, heard five songs and left to get back home and simply sit together. Late during the evening, I also hopped on to support my clients with another livestream because it felt good.

Doing more of what feels good for the greater good is my greatest gift today…

Diary #5, PLAY in Biz (Camping in Israel!)

My son, Nolan, ran up to hug me twice for planning this experience in Israel.

He loves being outdoors and doing so in such a new place, had him vibing high.

When we started to cook dinner, we went off to find him high on one of the mountains taking photos and building this rock sculpture. It reminded me of spending Summers in Kentucky where we’d run outside and catch fireflies for hours and hours with new friends.

For many of us, city living and technology has changed things a little bit, but the great news is that we still have nature and can grow our connection to her (especially when we take care of her)…

We can and our kids can also still experience (childlike) freedom by searching out things that get us ALL out of our head and into our bodies — into laughter…

And, of course, we ALL know that we will never lose our truth of being creative beings living our human art if we stay connected to experiences like travel, hiking, camping, running, splashing in water, writing, painting, tickling (and an all-around playfulness), generally exhibiting a unique presence with our kids and, therefore, with the essence of life itself.

In short, showing our kids how we, as adults, express all of the above in our everyday lives is one of the greatest forms of purpose and expression there is.

Today, I hug and thank you, NLM, for teaching me so much about the little girl I still have inside. She’s always so pleased to see you every morning. 😉

Whether you’re a parent or not, the idea here is play…play more in your life and infuse more of it into your business by allowing more of this part of your personality naturally come out (what would SHE do in her business or in her expression?), will always help you in making happiness your business and will also attract in more of your tribe because, well, light or lightness is magnetic.

You are magnetic — simply be you…

Enjoy your business, enjoy your life!
